Dressing for the holiday season can be very complicated. Not everyone wants to wear jeans to holiday parties or special occasions, and sometimes it just feels as if a dress isn’t appropriate for the colder weather.
As a female who is always concerned with what I am going to wear to every occasion or event that I attend, I lost the fear of wearing a dress in the cold weather. To me, my concern lies in the color scheme. My closet it filled with dresses of brighter colors. I have reds and teals and pinks, but my favorite color for the holiday season is black. The rule of black is that it goes with everything, and I find that to be very true. The trick in dressing in black during the holiday season is what color to pair your black outfit in.
When I think of December and the holidays, the first color that comes to my mind is gold. I see gold everywhere around the holiday season. It is a grand and glorious color, and it says so much about the person that wears it. Matching black and gold during the holiday season is a wise choice. Black is a great color to wear out at night and to match it with gold, highlights the outfit and makes a statement. In this outfit, I matched a long sleeve black dress with a statement necklace and a black and gold clutch. The loose fit of the dress allows me to feel comfortable, but also keeps me looking elegant and glamorous.
I matched this ensemble with a pair of black closed toe wedges. The shoe choice is interchangeable. If you are not interested in the closed toe wedge, or if you don’t want to wear a black shoe, you have multiple options. You could change the complete look of the outfit by wearing an open toe black shoe and painting your toenails gold to bring the gold out more, or you could forgo the black shoe and make the shoe the statement of the outfit. In another version of this same outfit, I chose to wear to wear gold glitter shoes and did not match it with the necklace.
