The amazing coordinators of Philly Fashion Week hosted a special Couture Fashion show, The Vault, this past weekend at the Crane Arts Old School. The show featured four select designers who had the ability to showcase their latest designs. It was such an honor to be invited and attend with a press pass and learn about what inspired these designers and the clothing line that they featured.
Ayasa Afi, platforming on Fun, Sexy, Sophistication, brought her designs that she showcased at this year’s New York Fashion Week – SS 2016 Collection Beautiful Creatures. Her collection included pieces inspired by family. The collection featured designs of the sea and the essence of Spring flowers. On some of the dresses, the flowers were hand painted on by a personal friend of hers. I personally loved the collection. The light fabric and the movement that each piece contained was beautiful in its own respect.
Ayasa was born and raised in Philly and has been a bright star in the fashion world representing the culture and success of Philly. She states that she has been designing since she was seven; her grandmother taught her how to sew and through those skills and inspiration her designing career developed. She designs garments for weddings, proms, and gala’s, also while styling her clients for night’s out and special events.
