Valentine’s Day Sentimentality

Valentine’s Day is in just a couple of days. And like I’ve shared before, this will be the first Valentine’s Day that my husband and I are spending as a married couple. It is also the first Valentine’s Day, and holiday, that we will not be gifting each other (you can read the reasons why we chose this in my last post).

Instead, this Valentine’s Day, we will be focusing on strengthening our bond, growing the friendship that we have at the base of our marriage and looking at the sentimental things that we give each other that are not material.

My husband and I will be celebrating our first year of marriage this upcoming April while also celebrating five years of being together. Now, I will openly admit that it hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing, but the disagreements that we’ve had, have only made us stronger.

For Valentine’s Day, I picked out a date night outfit that it sentimental to us. I already mentioned that we will be spending the majority of our date night will be spent at home. But we will still be taking a short weekend trip to Baltimore – a place where my husband previously took me away for another special occasion.

For dinner, I’ll be wearing this cute little number to a very romantic dinner, but the most important aspect of my outfit will be my shoes. They will be the most sentimental piece of the outfit because these shoes were my wedding shoes.

When I purchased my wedding shoes, I made sure to purchase a pair that I would be able to wear past my wedding date. And then I figured why not try to make it a tradition of wearing them for every Valentine’s Day and anniversary – my shoes be a reflection of our commitment and our love.
