U by Kotex - time of the month

If you’re like me, when it comes to your time of the month, you may feel uncomfortable and end up not even wanting to get out of the bed. And getting out of the bed is typically not an option if you have work, school and other obligations that need to be fulfilled. So, of course, you want to feel comfortable throughout the day and not have that crampy feeling. I know that is something that I want to do without.

I’ve learned to find comfort during my “uncomfortable” time by thinking of the things that matter to me.

U by Kotex® wants to know what matters to you and how we find comfort during our time of the month. This is a personal time for us women, and though it is absolutely great to have a product that protects us and keeps us secure, it is also important for us to keep up with the activities that matter to us during this time

Ever since I was younger, I have always had a love for fitness and feeling beautiful on the inside and out (two things that basically go hand in hand). So when I feel uncomfortable, whether it is because of my time of the month or because I’m feeling stressed and anxious, I focus my energy on doing the things that help me stay close to the things that matter to me.

The two things that I do are: workout + have an at-home spa day.

I don’t let my time of the month get me down and put me on the sidelines. Instead, I choose to kick it up a notch and let those activities that matter to me become my inspiration and motivation.

And though these might not intrigue you right away, I promise you that these activities will take all the discomfort away and have you feeling refreshed and ready for anything.

How to Have an Easy, Stress-Free, Comfortable Workout

The first step to having an easy workout that doesn’t drain you is to not over think it. Your workout aligns with your body and the time that you have. Don’t feel obligated to go to the gym and workout. It’s not necessary. Though I go to gym frequently, I can honestly say that my best workouts are when I take walks outside around my neighborhood or through the parks in my area.

So start by finding a workout that works for you. If you want to go to the gym, then go for it. But if you love the outdoors, then look up local parks in your area and see whether they have trails that you can walk. I’ve known friends who walk trails, but hate to workout. They say it’s easier because they are so distracted by how nice it is on the floor trail that they end up walking for miles with no stress.

Trail Running

Other than going to my own gym or going for a walk/run outside, I also take pleasure in doing my own at-home fitness routines. Here are a few workouts that I do:

  • 50 crunches (completed in 5 sets of 10)
  • Planking (2 sets for 30 seconds)
  • 50 Leg Raises (completed in 5 sets of 10)
  • 40 Push-Ups (4 sets of 10)

I also look up at-home fitness videos on YouTube. You can find videos for Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, and workouts that focus on one thing that you want to improve.

One thing that I always recommend for everyone to do is to create a workout playlist. A simple playlist that will keep you upbeat and motivated.

So let’s review step by step:

  1. Don’t overthink it! You’ll just stress yourself out and that’s the opposite of what you want to do.
  2. Find out the best place for you to workout (home, gym, outside)
  3. Create a playlist! { Check out my workout playlist – Petite Energy (PDF)/(Download)}

How to Have an At-Home Spa Day

Going to the spa can be a real treat, but for those of us who keep to a budget going the spa cannot be a monthly thing. But there is a way to bring the spa home with you without breaking the bank. The best way to do it is to figure out what makes you most relaxed and bring it into your bathroom.

The first thing that I do is find my favorite facial mask. You can find one at a specialty beauty store or one at your local drug store. (Tip: Determine what your biggest skin concern is and find a mask that focuses on that concern. For example, I typically buy masks that focus on dry skin and clogged pores).

Next thing to do is determine what kind of bath that you want to take. Do you want a bubble bath or a detox bath? Both are relaxing but a detox bath pulls a lot of impurities from your body and causes your body to do some work while you’re in the tub.

For a bubble bath, you’ll just need to run the warm water and pour one of those fragrant bubble bath mixtures in and you’re done.

For a detox bath, you’ll need to have some Epsom salt, baking soda, and a bath oil. Here are the measurements:

  • 1/4 cup of Epsom salt
  • 1 or 2 cups of baking soda
  • Few drops of your essential oil (I prefer lavender)

You will want to drink plenty of water before getting into a detox bath, and make sure to drink plenty of water afterwards as well. When bathing in a detox bath, use non-fragrant/natural soap and afterwards apply a non-fragrant lotion. Make sure to soak in a detox bath for 20-30 minutes for it to take full effect. I also recommend rinsing yourself in a cold shower before getting out to close your pores

After you’ve decided on your bath, place some candles around your bathroom, turn off the lights and play some calming music. {Here’s my at-home spa playlist – Beyond Relaxed (PDF)/(Download)}

And that’s it!

Time of the month

I put my face mask on and get in the tub and just relax for some time and then end my day with some wonderful rest. If I’m feeling spunky, I will also paint my nails to add a little kick to my spa day.

Now let’s recap:

  1. Purchase a face mask particular to your skin type or skin concern
  2. Choose what type of bath you want to take and gather the necessary ingredients
  3. Pick out some candles, turn off the lights and play some relaxing music
  4. Enjoy!

At the end of the day, I need to feel comfortable and secure when doing all of the things that I do that matter to me and without U by Kotex®, I wouldn’t feel like myself during my workouts or getting ready for my spa day. When it comes to doing the things that matter to me, I shop at Walmart and take pleasure in the U by Kotex® products.

I love how you explained that it is important to determine what type of exercise is best for you. I always said I hated exercising, and then about 2.5 years ago, I started working out with a trainer, and I learned I really enjoy weightlifting. I never knew I would! Even during that time of the month, I push myself to get in a good workout because I always feel great afterwards! #client

    • I’ve never worked with a trainer before, but one day I might. I just always tried different exercises until I found the ones that I like that work on the areas that I want to improve.
