3 Reasons Urban is In

Grunge Look

There is a fine line between an urban look and a grunge look. And basically, that line is made of flannel. To get an idea of what grunge looks like – just think about what you would see people wearing at a Nirvana concert. But that’s not what we are here to focus on. Today, we are going to be talking about the urban look, and how so many people are trying it but not all actually succeed. But what has to be admitted, is that the urban look is in!

Here are three reasons why:

  1. When you think of urban, you think of the city, and to be honest, the city is where things are happening. You go to the city to find life, fun, and adventure. So why wouldn’t you want to be there? If you haven’t ever been to the city in your area, I suggest you go and experience it. I was a person who was afraid of the city because of the horror stories that I once heard. But when I actually went, I realized that it was the place that I want to be. Every time I go to the city I experience a new fun and exciting adventure. That urban feel comes from the city, so why not embody it in your style.
  2. Urban = mystery. Everyone loves a good mystery. Tell me the truth, the last time that you met someone and they gave off this sense of relentless mystery, weren’t you attracted to them? Of course! With an urban look, you can become that mysterious person that everyone is attracted to and envies.
  3. Because the best budget clothes are made in urban styles. When budget shopping, an urban look is easy to create for under $50. You simply have to find what part of the urban style you fit it and rock it without breaking that wallet open too far. You can find a pair of distressed jeans and a loose, off-the-shoulder t-shirt paired with a lace bralette for no more than $40 together. Then add some shoes and you have your urban look put together for a great price!

Now that I’ve provided you with all the main reasons why the urban look is in, I want to share with you how I am taking my urban style to the next level and making it mine. For my urban look, I picked out a navy, wide-leg romper from Tobi. The romper itself is a great stand-alone piece, so I simply added some black wedge sandals and added some dark make-up and I was show-stopping mysterious from the minute I walked out the door.

Another great thing about this outfit is that it works for my petite stature. Previously, I talked about how rompers are great for shorter women who want to look taller. And the same rules from that post apply here. With the wide leg and short hem, my legs look longer and give the illusion of a few extra inches. I only added the heels to ‘heighten’ (wink…wink) my urban look, but I could have gone with a pair of black boots or flats.

I love my urban look. It makes me feel as if I am invincible. And it’s always great to find the looks that I love connected to a price tag that works with my budget. This cutout romper only costs $34 at Tobi. And to make it even sweeter, when you make your first purchase at Tobi, you get 50% off.

So, your receipt ends up totaling only $17. How great is that? That’s what I call budget shopping!
