This has been a delayed post. But as you all know, the holidays are such a busy time. But now I’m here, and I’m ready to share my recap of my 26th birthday in NYC.
As you all know, I am a Philadelphia area blogger which basically means that I live near Philly, but not in Philly. I actually live in Allentown which is about just as far from Philly as it is from New York. So though I adore Philly, I decided that I would do New York for my birthday and then Philly for New Years.
When thinking about what I wanted to do for my 26th birthday, I decided on basing the places that I go to on who I am as a person right now.
I’m a very relaxed person. I enjoy food, sitting, and just being generally comfortable. So, I just wanted to spend my first birthday as a married woman with my husband experiencing something new that we would both enjoy.
Of course, the first thing that I had to plan for was where we were going to stay. And if you saw my IG stories, you saw that 48Lex accommodated us in the the most luxurious way. 48Lex has everything you’re looking for when you’re looking to spend a night or more in the city. The comfort and space is just what we needed as my husband and I enjoy being able to move around the room as we are getting ready.
The room was filled with great amenities including toiletries from Malin + Goetz. I mean, how many places do you go to that are filled with top line products such as these.

One of the main reasons we decided to head to New York City was because I wanted to cross something off of my bucket list – the Sugar Factory.
I’ve heard great things about it, and honestly, I really wanted to try one of those sugar-filled goblets. And if you were checking in on my Instagram stories on the day of my birthday, you know that the Sugar Factory did not disappoint.
The food was delicious, the service was very good, the dessert…OMG…and the goblet was more than I expected.
Now, a tip for visiting the Sugar Factory, make sure that you make a reservation for your ideal time at least a week ahead or you’ll be stuck with a few choice time slot. The hubby and I had to go earlier than we wanted too because we waited until late. Also, keep in mind, that you’ll still have a short wait when you get there as they activate your reservation when you check in.
But other than that, enjoy yourself. And don’t drink the goblet too fast whether you get the “normal” or an alcohol free. Either way, you’ll be getting that sugar rush that you want.
Before we left, I really wanted to visit one of the top breakfast locations in the city. I love food, so keep in mind that my birthday was very food based. We took a Uber over to Citizens of Chelsea to have a quaint breakfast at a cute little space.
I loved the food and it was very Instagram worthy. It’s everything you would expect from a cafe in Chelsea. The food is freshly made and filling, but highly healthy.
Overall, I had an amazing birthday in NYC. It was everything that I had hoped for and it fit me as I am right now. There’s nothing that I would have changed and next year, I’m hoping to cross another thing off my bucket list on my birthday. Maybe, I’ll even visit another place and experience the food of that city.
