Floral Dress

Bold Florals

This summer has been a bright one, and I’m not just talking about the heat. When shopping top boutiques and stores, you can see that bright colors and florals were on trend this summer which is not always what happens because we typically see florals and brights drop off when Spring ends. But this summer, we stayed true to the brights, the florals and even the pastels and it has been a summer that shined bright.

When it comes to wearing bright-colored pieces or florals, my biggest tip is to make sure the leading color of the outfit is a color that is in your color palette.

In a previous post, I talked about colors that accentuate your skin complexion. And with the summer being the time when your skin is thriving and you are getting that nice summer glow, this is a great time to work on determining your color wheel and wearing those colors for all to see.

My second little tip is to wear something outside your comfort zone and try some things out. As a teacher, I typically like to try out different styles in the summer because I am not walking into work everyday with tons of eyes on me thinking – “what is she wearing?”. Even if you are not a teacher, the summer is a great time because you area heading out on vacations or taking some of those random “sick days”.

On those days you can try out different bright and/or floral looks to see what works for you. You might even find colors to add to your complimentary colors. I’ve mentioned before that some of my complimentary colors are red, orange, and yellow, so this dressed worked perfectly for me. But one thing that I am not always comfortable with is too many patterns and things being busy. After I put on this dress, I realized that the busy pattern is nothing to be afraid of.

There are so many trending bright, colorful, and floral pieces out there in every store that you may look. And the best thing is that all of these trending pieces vary to target a variety of different personal styles.

Now all you have to do is get out there and stop snagging some of these trending pieces before the summer is completely over because we all know that the bright, colorful trend is here to stay. I’m even hoping that some of the bright colors keep in trend into the cold winter months.

What stores have you been shopping for your bright, colorful pieces? And what looks have been you enjoying this summer?
