If you haven’t heard about one of the biggest trends this past season, I wanted to share with you that shackets have been a big thing. Not familiar with what a shacket is, it’s a jacket that looks like a shirt. There are some great shacket options at H&M to shop. But that’s not what I want to focus on in this post. For me, I didn’t really fall much into the shacket trend. Instead, I fell in love with the many dresses that I found that also looked like coats or jackets. The coat dress is an understated trend that got overshadowed by the shacket trend. So I want to bring it back to the light and talk about the great trend that is the coat dress.
The dress in this post is a Mare Mare dress rented from Nuuly.
THE COAT DRESS TREND
As you all know, dresses have a special power in creating illusions to accentuate the best parts of your body while also downplaying the ones that you don’t want to highlight as much. Over the years, I have shared tips on how to style different clothes to make yourself look taller. And since dresses are a major part of that hack, it’s important to make sure that we are including a variety of styles of dresses in our wardrobe in order to create a variance of looks.
The coat dress trend has been around for a while. The most popular way of wearing the coat dress trend is through the blazer style. With this style, you can multipurpose your jackets to wear them as either blazer, jackets, or dresses – thus expanding your closet. Along with the blazer, one of the more formal styles of the coat dress is the tux style dress. This is a great style to wear to a formal event. The tux dress is a style that is absolutely breath taking and has a masculine edge to it.
There are so many variants of the coat dress style and each one has its own way of accentuating your best parts, and with so many styles, you’re bound to find a style to wear for whatever the occasion.
