There are so many pieces in my closet that I can only wear for one type of occasion. There are dresses that are more for a night out, other dresses for a “dressier occasion” and then there are the dresses that I can wear casually. Just like many of you, I have tops that function the same way. I wouldn’t wear my peplum top with crystal accents to work or for a casual brunch with the girls. The piece doesn’t fit the occasion.
But as I have started my spring closet cleaning, I have started to rid myself of pieces that I can wear only for one occasion. Then, as I begin rebuilding my closet, I have aimed to find pieces that I can dress up or dress down – making the piece versatile and dependent on the accessories. It’s actually much easier than it sounds.
SHOP THIS LOOK:
Recently, I have started shopping more at one of my favorite stores, Revolve, and during my short shopping spree, I found this adorable Lucca Couture fit and flare dress. The bright orange is fit for spring and summer, and then when the fall returns (its inevitable), I can add on a layer and wear it into the colder season.
With this dress, I’ve been able to dress it up with a cute pair of heels, a statement necklace + earrings, and a clutch to match the color of my heels. I’ve also been able to dress it down and just wear it as it is with a simple pair of earrings such as these from Kendra Scott and a pair of plain sneakers.
With this dressed down, I can head out to brunch or even a quick picnic with my soon-to-be hubby. Or with it dressed up, I can head to a nice summer wedding under a fabulous tent that let’s us dance the night away under the stars.
By having these type of versatile pieces in your closet gives you multiple outfits with one piece and ultimately saves you money, and you know how I’m all about saving money. I’ve worn this dress a couple of times around the same people and barely any of them realized that I was wearing the same dress – accessories go a long way.
