Effortless Thanksgiving Style

Casual Thanksgiving Look

I know I have already been sharing holiday style, but I can’t completely forget that Thanksgiving is approaching, and with Thanksgiving comes family gatherings, Friendsgivings, work potlucks, and short trips out of town to have early Thanksgiving gatherings with those who you may not see on Thankgiving day. With so many events on the horizon, you are probably wondering what to wear, with putting together casual Thanksgiving outfits being extra tricky.

I used to struggle with the same thing, especially when there were so many gatherings to go to in the two week span between Thanksgiving and the weeks before. Formal Thanksgiving wear was easier – I could turn to one of my tried and true dresses or skirts – but casual Thanksgiving wear was more difficult for me to pinpoint. Soon, however, I realized that there are so many looks that you can put together for effortless Thanksgiving style. Today, I want to share some of my top tips and tricks with you!

CASUAL THANKSGIVING OUTFITS

As you begin putting together cute Thanksgiving outfit ideas, my biggest tip is to dress within the Fall color palette or to dress in colors that compliment your complexion. The Thanksgiving color palette is so warm and seasonal, and styling an outfit within this palette will be sure to put you in the holiday spirit. However, if Thanksgiving colors don’t work well with your skin tone, don’t be afraid to instead lean into the colors that you know flatter you the most. Whenever you’re going to be seeing lots of people that you know, the most important thing is that you feel confident, and wearing colors that you feel good in will always give you that boost.

Additionally, you will want to wear something that is loose – or can be loosened – so that when you indulge in the delicious Thanksgiving dinner, you don’t find yourself super uncomfortable after all of the turkey and warm apple pie. Thanksgiving is a holiday that is all about the food, so comfort truly is key. Think pants with loose waisbands and pieces that have lots of flow, like flowy tops or dresses. Trust me – you’ll be glad that you did.

Also, be sure to take the weather into account. Thanksgiving weather can vary greatly from location to location, so you want to make sure that you are styling your outfit with the weather in mind. The great thing about fall is that it is the season for layers, so you can easily create an outfit that will be functional for a variety of different locations.

Oftentimes, all you need to put together the perfect casual Thanksgiving outfits is a great top that sets the mood of the holiday and a pair of jeans that you love. Unless you’re headed to a formal Thanksgiving dinner, Thanksgiving is a holiday that is usually more about function than anything. You’ll probably be cooking, eating, and hanging out with the ones that you love – you want to be comfortable! The great news is, you can still look cute while doing so.

However, if you want to take your outfit up a notch and wear something besides jeans, you can reach for a fun pair of army green or burnt orange pants that have flow and will work well with the day. You can also wear a casual dress (with tights if it’s feeling chilly out!) or a cute skirt that can easily be paired with a sweater or turtleneck. Fall fashion is so easy to play with, so don’t be afraid to experiment until you find an outfit combination that you love.

MY THANKSGIVING OUTFIT

For this look, I decided to go with this mustard, floral bodysuit that stretches to give me enough space around my stomach to eat and eat some more – always a Thanksgiving priority. I paired the top with flare jeans and a belt that I can start off with tight but then loosen as my belly expands from all the delicious food.

The color of the top is so effortless and the print is just what anyone would want for a fall floral look, which is super trending right now. I love how casual this outfit is while still looking put together and stylish. But maybe, you’re not wanting the bodysuit. No worries – the print also comes in a short dress as well as a midi dress and both have enough style and stretch to create a perfect, effortless style for any Thanksgiving gathering.
