OUTFITS TO PACK FOR YOUR TRIP TO FLORIDA

First things first – let’s walk through some outfits that you want to be sure to have on your vacation packing list. Pieces can always be mixed and matched, but these staple outfits will give you a great starting point as you begin filling your suitcase.

Thankfully, Florida weather is fairly consistent year round, so this list should be able to apply no matter when you’re traveling to Florida. However, if you’re going to be traveling during the colder months of the year, just be sure to add pants and a light coat to your packing list to make sure that you stay warm even in Florida’s relatively mild winters.

MATCHING SETS

I love the matching set trend, and am thrilled that they’ve become so popular in recent years. Matching sets are great for travel because you can wear them together for an outfit that you don’t have to think about or mix and match them with other sets to give yourself some options.

SUNDRESSES

In my opinion, nothing screams “FLORIDA” more than a cute sundress. I love sundresses because they allow you to look stylish and put together while staying cool and comfortable in the Florida heat and humidity. They hardly take up any space in your suitcase, so you still have plenty of space to pack other items, and you can either dress them up or dress them down to wear them for a night out or for casual everyday wear.

350
MAXI SKIRTS

Another great option to look cute and still beat the heat? Maxi skirts! Flowy and cute, maxi skirts always make you look like you put in way more effort than you actually did. You can easily throw one over your bathing suit or pair it with a cute crop top for an easy outfit.

350
LINEN PANTS

I am so here for the linen pant trend. I love that they’re lightweight and breathable, with that perfect flowy, beachy touch that Florida style always calls for. Easily pair with a crop top or bathing suit for effortless style that will feel perfectly coastal.

350
BATHING SUITS

Speaking of – in Florida, you can practically live in your bathing suit, so make sure that you bring plenty of options. Whether you love a good bikini or prefer one-piece suits, bathing suits are so easy to pack (they take up next to no space, after all), and trust me – in the Florida heat, you’re going to want to have a few bathing suits that you feel great in.

350
BEACH COVER UP

Make sure that you have a few good cover ups to accompany your bathing suits. If you want to run in a shop or restaurant straight from the beach, having something cute that’s easy to throw overtop of your suit will be a absolute game changer.

350
ACTIVEWEAR

If you’re going to spend time in theme parks, it’s always a good idea to have activewear options on hand. You’ll be spending a lot of time moving around in the sun, so you want to have clothing that’s super comfortable, breathable, and moves easily.

350
EVENING WEAR

Florida is the perfect place for a night out, so I always want to make sure that I have evening wear with me. Having a few fancier dresses – evening dresses and cocktail dresses – is a necessity so I’m ready for whatever the trip throws at me.

350
JUMPSUITS

Jumpsuits are one of my favorite pieces to pack for coastal vacations because they work so well for both day or night. Be sure to opt for light, breathable fabrics that won’t leave you feeling too overheated or sticky in the Florida heat and you’ll be golden.

350
ROMPERS

Another lightweight option that won’t take up too much space and can easily be thrown over a bathing suit at the end of the day, rompers are always a great choice to add to your Florida packing list.

ACCESSORIES TO PACK FOR YOUR TRIP TO FLORIDA

In addition to your outfits, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve packed the right accessories for your trip. Accessories make the outfit, and will help you dress up or dress down your pieces to make your Florida wardrobe more versatile without having to pack a ton of extra clothing options.

SUNGLASSES

You really can’t overstate how brutal the Florida sun can be, and having a solid pair of sunglasses will keep you comfortable in even the harshest outdoor conditions. I like to bring a few pairs of sunglasses with me in case I lose or break a pair.

350
SUN HAT

In addition to sunglasses, I always bring sun hats with me, both to protect my eyes from the glare of the sun and to protect my face from the harsh rays. Plus, they’re so stylish!

350
JEWELRY

Jewelry is the easiest accessory, so I always like to have multiple options on hand. A few dainty gold staple pieces are a must – elegant, classy, and they go with everything. Florida is also the perfect place for your more outlandish jewelry, so don’t be afraid to get creative and stand out!

350
BEACH BAG

You’ll want to have a bag specifically for the beach, as you won’t want to get sand in your other bags. Make sure to choose something that has room for everything that you need, and it’s always a plus if you’re able to find a bag that’s water-resistant and foldable.

350
STRAW PURSE

Is there any accessory more summery than a straw bag? They go with everything, and automatically add a fun beachy flair to any outfit, casual or upscale.

SHOES TO INCLUDE IN YOUR FLORIDA PACKING LIST

As easy as it can be to want to bring a million pairs of shoes with you when traveling, packing shoes for Florida really isn’t too tricky. You just want to make sure to bring along a few staples. Here are the shoes that I always recommend bringing with you!

SANDALS

The most obvious choice when packing for a trip to Florida, you want to make sure to bring sandals that will easily match the pieces you’ve already packed (neutrals are your friend!), and are ideally comfortable to walk in so that you can explore.

350
FLIP FLOPS/BEACH SHOES

You’ll likely be spending quite a bit of time by the pool or on the beach, so make sure to bring flip flops, slides, or some other form of beach shoe that you’re comfortable with getting wet and sandy.

350
SNEAKERS

If you’re heading to the theme parks while in Florida, sneakers are an absolute must. You’ll be doing a ton of walking, and you don’t want to hurt your feet! Florida is also home to some fantastic nature trails, and there are plenty of places to explore, so I always like to have a pair of sneakers on hand for any adventure that I may get myself into while I’m in the sunshine state.

350
HEELED SANDALS

Don’t forget to bring a pair of shoes for a night out! Whether you opt for heels or wedges, you want to have a stylish pair of shoes to go with the formal pieces that you’ve packed.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS YOU NEED TO INCLUDE IN YOUR FLORIDA PACKING LIST

Clothes aren’t the only thing that you’ll need for your time in Florida! Here are a few more items to add to your list that you’ll be glad you have on hand, from toiletries to beach reads and beyond.

SUNSCREEN

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the Florida sun is like no other. It’s not uncommon for the UV levels to simply register as “Extreme,” so trust me – you want to bring LOTS of sunscreen. I always recommend bringing both facial and body sunscreen, but in a pinch, you can use body sunscreen on your face. Your makeup may also already have some SPF!

350
BLISTER STICK

Blisters are no fun, but they tend to come with the heat if you’re going to be doing a lot of walking. That’s why I always bring my blister stick – it’s preventative if you don’t already have blisters, and if you end up getting blisters along the way, it can help keep them from getting worse.

350
BUG SPRAY

In the muggy weather, you’ll find you’re no stranger to bugs, especially depending on which part of Florida you find yourself in. Be sure to bring bug spray to keep yourself from going crazy amidst all of the pesky creatures buzzing about. Gross!

350
SETTING SPRAY

The Florida heat makes us all feel like melting – your makeup doesn’t stand a chance without a good setting spray. Be sure to use it every morning, and feel free to refresh throughout the day. It makes your skin feel great!

350
BLOTTING PAPERS

In addition to setting spray, blotting papers are also great to have on hand to keep you feeling fresh by blotting away excess oil and sweat that make your skin feel gross and shiny.

350
PORTABLE CHARGER

You’ll probably be taking lots of pictures while you’re in Florida, and depending on your plans, you may be spending a lot of time on your phone mapping routes. Having a portable charger will help you ensure that your phone stays well-charged all day long.

350
WATER BOTTLE

Hydrate don’t die-drate, friends! You need to stay hydrated in the hot Florida sun – having a reusable water bottle is great for the environment, and helps make sure you always have a cold beverage on hand when you need it.

350
BEACH READS

Everyone needs a good beach read to read on the sand or by the pool! Here are a few of the most popular options on the market right now – dive into one and let me know what you think!

350
WATERPROOF PHONE POUCH

Most Florida plans involve water of some kind, and you don’t want to have to worry about something happening to your phone on your trip. Invest in a waterproof pouch for priceless peace of mind during your travels.
