Holiday lights and Christmas decorations are one of my favorite things to see during the holiday season. As soon as the holiday decorations hit the shelves in all of my favorite stores like Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I immediately get all excited and have to stop myself from overbuying decorations to make my home feel festive, merry and bright. If you’re like me, you start decorating the inside and outside of your house for the season either right after Halloween or a give or take a few days. Though it is super early for some people, in my opinion, it’s the perfect time to start your decorating so that you can improve it and make keep adding to it throughout the months to come as it leads up to Christmas.
But where do you start? When you enter into the stores, you’re probably overwhelmed by the amount of decorations that there are. You don’t want to end up purchasing decorations that you won’t use but you also don’t want to miss out on getting the decorations because they may not be there for very long.
The first thing I usually do as I begin preparing for the holiday season is that I prep my house by cleaning. A good deep clean to get your entire house ready for Christmas decorations is what the holiday season calls for and you’ll really appreciate that you did it if you are hosting holiday parties this season.
Then start planning out the holiday theme or color scheme that you are going for. Are you going for a White Christmas look or maybe something is a little more Disney inspired? You’ll want to buckle down and determine what you’re doing so that as you’re shopping around you can pick up decorations that will work well together. Even more, knowing what your theme is will help you to search online a little better because we all know that shopping for holiday decorations on Amazon can lead you down an extreme rabbit hole.
Then as you find your holiday decorations, enjoy how festive your home becomes!
