Yesterday was my official last day of summer vacation. Today, I’m back at school getting ready for my students to return next Monday. I’m super excited to meet my new students – and even more, because I teach 10th and 12, get some of the students back who I taught in 10th grade during my first year of teaching. This past week, I have been running around like crazy trying to get myself prepared for the new school year, and through all of that I wanted to share some of my tips for getting ready to head back to school.
SHOP THIS POST:
The first thing that I did when I began preparing to head back to school was have a glass of wine. I mean, let’s face it. Wine solves everything and is a great beverage to celebrate with. So, have yourself a glass of wine and celebrate the fact that you made it through the summer and that you are getting ready for the beginning of the school year.
Also, as anyone would know, plan ahead. I sat down last week and listed out all of the things that would be going on within the upcoming weeks. And I mean I listed out Eh-Ver-Re-thing. I listed out what I need to accomplish with my blog, what I needed to do to get ready for the students to arrive, what needed to get done to prepare for us buying a house, what lessons I would be teaching once school start, upcoming doctors appointments, travel plans…so many things. Then I scheduled everything out and set due dates around all of my pre-scheduled events and appointments. By doing this, I was able to find peace of mind that everything was going to get done and it was all going to work out.
The worst thing that you can do when getting ready for school is try to do things last minute and then panic. To prevent getting overwhelmed, just plan ahead and always be one step further than the other person. You’ll thank yourself.
Good luck to all of the teachers headed back into the classroom this week and congratulations to all of the parents who made it through the summer!
