I’m sure that you all have noticed that my wedding posts typically fall on Wednesday, but every once and awhile I’ll change it up and put it on a different day. Basically, I don’t want to commit to posting my wedding posts on Wednesday, but today, I’m screaming…. Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today, I want to share with you my journey of finding my perfect wedding invitations and how you can do the same. I will admit that it took a lot of patience and a lot of planning ahead, but the best things come to those who wait.
When I started looking for wedding invitations, I first started with searching for my theme on Pinterest. Now, this method may work for some people, but it didn’t work well for me. I found some great invitation suites that fit my theme and included all of my colors, but when I clicked through on the pin, it took me to a site that was either a) no longer functioning b) a wedding website where the wedding suite was $2,000 – which was not in my budget or c) just a site filled with ideas and no links to where I could get those items from.
After being defeated by that method, I decided to go another route. Instead of shopping for my theme to start off with, I made a list of wedding invitation websites that fit within my budget. I had to make that my priority and then have everything else fit into place after that.
I was working with a $500 max budget, and I wanted the suite to include: the invitation, the response card, and a reception card (since we were having our ceremony and reception at two different locations).
After making that list of vendors, I subscribed to their email list – my purpose: to get emails with discounts!
Another great thing about signing up for the email list is that I was able to get email updates every time a new suite/design was added to the site. For example, Wedding Paper Divas adds new designs at least once or twice very month. Since I started searching for my suite at least 8 months before I even needed to send my invitations out, I was able to wait until a design that fit my style close enough (I know I just said “close enough” but bear with me).
One day, I got an email with a new design on Wedding Paper Divas – it was purple and gold (I’m sure you can see where I am going with this…) which are two of my wedding colors. This was it, it was time for me to make a move.
I got onto the site and started making adjustments with colors and emailing the designer to see what customizations I could make. On Wedding Paper Divas, there are a lot of manipulations that you can make to make your invitation suite your own. So right then and there, I decided that this was the suite for me.
But I didn’t order it right away. I waited patiently for the right moment. In a few weeks, I received an email from their list saying that all invitations were 35% off with free shipping! This was the moment, I put everything in the cart and pulled up my saved design and sent in the payment.
Soon after the designer contacted me and we began integrating the custom workings that I had talked to her previously about. After about 3-4 revisions, my invitations were exactly what I had always dreamed they would be.
So to recap, here’s the top tips that I have for you to find your perfect wedding invitation:
- Be Patient
- Search various vendors and subscribe to them
- Work with your designer to create something special for you
- Have fun!
