If you spend any time on TikTok, you’ve seen the new makeup trend taking the internet by storm – latte makeup, a term coined by Rachel Rigler after the style of makeup created by Australian makeup artist Tanielle Jai. Latte makeup is a makeup look created entirely with different shades of brown. It’s a warm, bronzed, neutral look that’s super flattering on different skin tones
As soon as I saw the videos making their way into my FYP, I knew that I had to try the latte makeup trend for myself. This coffee-inspired style of makeup is so easy and fun to play with, and I love that the options of how to create it are nearly limitless. You can really play with different products and see what works best for you personally. Today, I want to show you my latte makeup look and how you can achieve your own!

What I love about the latte makeup trend is its simplicity – it’s so easy to put together with beauty products that you already own, so you don’t have to buy anything special to try it out. You can just work with what you have! I also love how much freedom is in it. You really don’t have to do it a certain or specific way. As long as you stick to the color palette, you can easily create a gorgeous makeup look that will look great on you with minimal effort. It’s such a great look for summer, and can easily be transitioned into fall as we all begin wearing earth tones and neutrals again.

THE LATTE MAKEUP TREND: STEP BY STEP
Are you ready to dive in? Here’s my step by step guide to creating the latte makeup trend for yourself, so you can make this fun makeup look a part of your own routine!
LATTE MAKEUP TREND STEP ONE: The Base
The first step to creating the latte makeup look is giving yourself a sheer base. Use a low-coverage foundation or skin tint to achieve the skin tone you desire, then set it with a powder bronzer. Pro tip: Rachel Rigler suggests applying foundation everywhere except your nose to allow your natural freckles to shine through.
STEP TWO: The Freckles
This step is optional, but super fun. If you’d like, feel free to use a freckle pen or brown eyeliner to give yourself some freckles after you finish your base. If you’ve always wanted freckles, now is your chance! Remember, we’re going for sun-kissed and glowy, so freckles are always welcome.
STEP THREE: The Contour
Every latte makeup look needs a good contour moment. Again, we’re really leaning into the coffee tones, so keep that in mind as you pick your shades. No matter the contour product you prefer, it’s time to pull it out and give your face some extra definition. Contour in the way that best suits your face shape and make those cheekbones pop!
STEP FOUR: Eyeshadow
Time for one of my favorite parts of any makeup look – eyeshadow. There’s really no one way to achieve a latte makeup eyeshadow look – the latte makeup look is more about color than it is application, so as long as you’re sticking to the coffee and bronze toned colors, you’re sure to have a flawless eyeshadow look.
Play with different brown and gold tones – add some shimmer in your inner corner or under the brow bone, or work a darker color into your crease. If you want to go super minimal, you can also just use a dark shadow along your lash line. It’s really up to you!
STEP FIVE: Eyeliner
Remember: we’re sticking to brown and bronze tones, so now isn’t the time to be pulling out your favorite black liquid liner. Instead, it’s time to go old school and lean into brown eyeliner pencils. Go for smudgy and along the lash line, or maybe a super thin brown wing.
STEP SIX: Lashes
Lashes take a bit of a backseat when it comes to latte makeup looks – the focus for the eyes is on the brown shadow more than anything. Either brush on just a bit of your standard mascara, or – if you’re really ready to commit – go with a brown mascara to stay true to the bronze-y look we’re going for.
STEP SEVEN: Brows
You don’t have to do anything crazy for your brows to achieve this makeup look. Just fill them in like normal and you will be good to go!
STEP EIGHT: Lips
Lips are understated when achieving the latte makeup look. Think natural, neutral, maybe a bit glossy, but nothing too crazy – now isn’t the time to whip out your favorite dramatic red lip. Try to aim for a nude lip, or at least something with a brown undertone. Sometimes people even apply leftover foundation over top of their lip look to further make the look as natural and neutral as possible. Play with different lipstick, lip gloss, and lip liner combinations to see which one really finishes off the look best for you.
And there you have it – the finished latte makeup look! Scroll to see my completed look for yourself. I’ve got to be honest – I’m pretty obsessed with it. I have a feeling this will be making it into my standard makeup look rotation immediately!
