Every year Valentine’s Day makes us get a lot more creative than we do any other time throughout the year. We get creative with gifts to give, experiences to take, and trying to figure out what are the things to do for Valentine’s Day. For us, each year we try to figure out how we are going to spend Valentine’s Day together and make it unique to the previous years, but with both of us being very relaxed we tend to do things more on the chill side or DIY. So if you’re, like us, and plan to stay in or do something fun like having a luxurious pop-up picnic, add to the festivities by making your own Valentine’s Day cocktail.
For this Valentine’s Day cocktail, I decided to try a new liquor – elderflower liquor. I’m so glad that I decided to dive in because this flavored liquor is such a game-changer and adds such a sweet and floral element to the cocktail without it being overpowering. Though many people aren’t huge fans of floral flavors, I will say that this cocktail isn’t as “flowery” as it may look or sound. There is a lot of balance in the cocktail that gives it a hint of sweetness that won’t leave you feeling as if you’re about to get a sugar headache. So go out and grab all the ingredients you need to make this Valentine’s Day cocktail – the Love Potion.

The Love Potion A VALENTINE’S DAY COCKTAIL
This Valentine’s Day cocktail combines many floral ingredients together with ingredients such as grapefruit soda and chardonnay which are not as sweet to create a smooth and sweet balance. If you’re looking to up the liquor of this cocktail, you can also add 1 oz of a dry gin to pull some of the sweeter flavors out, but everyone has raved about this cocktail and it fits right in with the spirit of the holiday. The cocktail will be a lighter pink hue because of the grapefruit soda, but when you start adding the initial ingredients it’ll be a lot lighter with a hint of yellow, but don’t let that deter you from finishing putting together this amazing cocktail.
