On my first day attending the shows, events, and presentation of NYFW F/W ’16 – I was invited to attend the Nika Tang presentation that showcased her most recent AW ’16 campaign.
To provide a little background on the designs of Nika Tang, it must be known that her designs “focus on shape and form, custom textile treatments, integrating modern technology and fabrication with traditional couture techniques.” (as stated from the About on NikaTang.com)
Her presentation was held at the Gibney Dance Center and circulated four designs worn by four models at one time. Every few minutes, a new model wearing another piece would circulate the room and take the place of another model who would exit the area and return to the hidden space where he or she would emerge with another piece from the collection.
The collection included a modern take on outerwear which included thick fabrics and luxurious designs. The color palette for for the collection include many hues that would be deemed as a part of the cold weather color scene.
The color palette used by Nika Tang in her collection along with the textiles and shapes included in each piece was, to me, the highlight of the entire line. Though I am not one to see myself wearing high fashion, I could definitely see myself interested in wearing one of these pieces.
You can see the full line for the Nika Tang AW ’16 Collection in her AW ’16 Lookbook, and make sure to take a look at the pictures below to see a few snaps of the looks that I was able to see during my time at the presentation as well as a picture featuring Nika Tang herself.
