Everyone has their own unique street style at NYFW, and when it came to mine I leaned more towards the comfort of the look while still trying to maintain fashion. For the F/W ’16 season, it was hard to wear everything that I wanted to wear because of the bitter cold. But that didn’t stop me from showing off my own personal street style.
There’s this rule (which I never fully understood) that states that you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day. For those who know me, I am not really one that likes to follow rules – especially the rules that connect to fashion. So for my NYFW look, I decided to go all white. I paired some white American Eagle skinny jeans with my white Vans. And underneath my coat, I have white long-sleeved top with a black and white t-shirt overlayed. Obviously, you cannot quite see my shirts because my coat is covering them, but there is a white theme going on.
While we are on the topic of my coat, let’s talk about how that added to my street style. With it being so cold in NY during the F/W ’16 NYFW, it was essential to wear a thick, protective coat. Fortunately, I packed my favorite winter coat that kept me warm and also had me receiving many compliments. This plaid magenta coat kept me warm moving from one show to the other. When I was able to flip up the oversized hood, my face was shielded from the biting wind.
The most important thing about NYFW street style is to make your street style your own. I will admit that there were times when I saw other people on the street and I thought that their street style look was amazing, but it wasn’t one that I could adapt to mine. I want to be myself and rock my own personal look.
