The Refectory
If you’re looking for refined dining and you are willing to take a short trip out of the city, then head over to the Refectory in Villanova. Set right on Villanova University’s campus, you’ll find this casual restaurant that will welcome you at the door with aromas venturing from the kitchen, around the restaurant, and then right to your table. If you decide to head in for weekday brunch, there are quite a few great options on the menu. Depending on what you’re in the mood for, you can find options that are more on the breakfast side such as the Funfetti French Toast and the Breakfast Flat (which you absolutely must order because you’ll dream about it for days afterwards and make plans to go have it again and again) or options that are on the lunch side such as various sandwiches and flatbreads such as the Salmon BLAT (A= avocado) and the Brisket Flatbread.
No matter what meal you are heading to the the Refectory for, you have to try some of their signature desserts. The Zebra cake was quite a surprising option. When I saw it on the menu, I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into, but once it hit the table and then hit my taste buds, I knew that it was a great choice to order after my meal.
And if you’re looking to be treated like the amazing guest you are, the Refectory provides such great hospitality especially when it comes to helping you decided what to order on the menu because you’ll find yourself trying to decide between so many options.
The Refectory is open for weekend brunch, weekday lunch, and dinner. And though you are welcome to walk in and get a table, I highly recommend making a reservation because this restaurant is getting busier and busier each and every day. With a menu like theirs, you’re not going to want to take your chances of missing out.
