The Wayward Philly
If you’re looking for a restaurant that focused on American cuisine while bringing in inspiration from French delicacies and the sea, then the Wayward is where you’ll want to go. I’ve been there for both brunch and dinner, and I will start off by saying the drinks start off the meal in the right way, and then each course just gets better and better.
During one of the times that I dined at the Wayward, there was a drink that was no longer available. Instead of just asking me to choose another cocktail, I was offered the option to try something special made by the mixologist that would be similar to the cocktail I had asked for, but not exactly the same thing. I took the risk and each time I go back, I take that risk again because none of the “bartender’s choice” drinks have disappointed.
Away from the cocktails, I highly recommend getting the seafood tower where you’ll be able to select from the oysters available and delicious shrimp. I also recommend going during brunch. The Steak and Frites, waffles, and even the hush puppies were exactly what we needed to kick off the day.
On top of that, the Wayward’s decor is absolutely gorgeous. Embedding in the style of the hotel that it is housed in as well as the aesthetic of the maritime inspirations, the modern style gives a relaxing atmosphere for indoor dining. And then when it’s warmer outside, the patio is also a great little place to eat or have happy hour. Even if you get a little chilly if you’re dining during a cool summer evening, the Fall, or during a not-so-warm day during the spring, the warmers, and the food will give you the warmth that you need to feel really good.
