When looking for a fun adult experience during Christmastime in Philly, you’ll want to head to Tinsel. Tinsel is Philly’s original Christmas pop-up bar. Each year, the door open with new designs, a light show, and seasonal cocktails that are just as fun as their names. During the week, Tinsel is open with no cover charge, but on Friday’s and Saturday’s, be prepared to pay the $5 cover charge starting at 8pm.
Tinsel is a location that you can’t miss when you drive by because of the holiday decor that makes the pop-up bar stand out no matter what time of the year. Walking into Tinsel, you’ll instantly be immersed into the holiday decorations with some being Philly based such as Gritty standing to greet you in his holiday hat. Throughout the bar you’ll find fun little spaces for great photo opps including the red glitter chair in the nook with the plethora of ornaments.
At the bar, you’ll find Christmas themed cocktails including the Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins named after that famous phrase from Elf along with the Tinsel Snow Globe that when served is closed off and shaken so that you are literally served a snow globe. Other great cocktails that are served are the Canned Good which is served in a holiday themed can and the Candy Cane Forest Shot that comes in an edible candy cane shot glass.
Keep in mind that Tinsel is a first come, first serve and standing room bar and is known to have lines out the door for people to get in. So make sure to get there early to experience the festivities of this Christmas holiday pop-up bar.
