Going Out in the City on Valentine’s Day

Yesterday, I shared with you my first Valentine’s Day look of the season and that focused on what to wear for a day date during this day of celebrating love. To be honest, I am excited to be sharing these looks because it also allowing me to figure out what I am going to wear on the day of and plan out what we are going to do. I think it will probably be a day date, but we still have some other options that we could lean towards as well. Today, I am sharing another Valentine’s Day look that fits if you are heading out into the city to celebrate with your significant other.

The city provides so many options for celebrating Valentine’s Day. Between the vast amount of restaurants to the various bars and even some late night clubs where you can go and just sip on some drinks and dance the night away.

With Valentine’s Day falling on a Friday this year, there is even more of a chance that you can celebrate the day in the city and stay out late if your family situation allows (i.e. if you don’t have children that don’t require you to be back home for bedtime).

There have been a couple of Valentine’s Days where my husband and I headed into the city. One year we made a reservation at an Indian restaurant which allowed us to try new food while also enjoying each other’s company. And then afterward, we headed to our favorite hookah spot for some late-night bites, music, and drinks. This year, we probably won’t be indulging in a late-night spot, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t head out into the city.

For a Valentine’s Day outfit for going out in the city, I highly recommend shoes that you can take on and off quickly. If you keep some flats in your purse, you can switch them off for walking and then put them back on when you get to your location. And then with the rest of the outfit, make sure that it is something that allows you to walk and stay warm – which is why I am huge on wearing pants for this kind of occasion. It keeps you warm for walking in the colder weather and you don’t have to worry about any gust of wind lifting your dress up as you try to get to your destination.

Then for the top, show a little skin with an off the shoulder look or even a cold shoulder look. Since you’ll be covered up with the pants and closed-toed shoes, keep it sexy and show a little something-something. I’m a big advocate for the off the shoulder look since it shows just a little more skin, and there are tops you can get to make them off the shoulder that isn’t fully intended to be, so double the look with one piece.
