Planning an upcoming trip to Las Vegas? You’re doubtlessly working out lots of logistics – where to stay, what shows to see, what restaurants to visit, what casinos to go to. But there’s one major detail that is always top of mind for me when I’m packing for a trip: what should I wear?

Styling outfits for an upcoming trip is always one of my favorite parts of the preparation process, and it’s extra fun when you are traveling somewhere like Las Vegas. After all, Vegas is known for being over the top and dramatic – it’s the appeal of the city! When you’re going somewhere as fun as Las Vegas, there is so much freedom in choosing the outfits that you want to wear. You can wear bright colors, dramatic blacks, glitter, sequins, rhinestones – you name it, no one will bat an eye at it in Vegas!

There’s so much freedom in that – in being able to dress as fun and fabulous as you want. It makes the process of getting ready for your trip so exciting!

One of the many things I love about Las Vegas is that there is so much to do there. As a result, there are lots of different activities and occasions to dress for, so it can be a little overwhelming to figure out what you want to bring with you on your trip to Las Vegas. But that’s why I’m here – to give you all of my best tips and advice as you pack for your trip so that you can enjoy all that Vegas has to offer.

Let’s be honest – there really isn’t a bad time to visit Las Vegas. No matter what time of year you go, there will be so much for you to do, see, and experience. That being said, you do have to factor in the weather as you pack for your trip, so be sure to plan accordingly.

Contrary to popular belief, Las Vegas is not hot all year round! In the colder weather months, it can get chilly, so don’t pack just your summer clothes if you’re planning a January or February Vegas trip. You’ll want to wear layers as the temperatures do dip, especially at night. When I celebrated my 30th birthday in Las Vegas, we definitely did not have warm weather the entire trip, so factor that in as you create your outfits!

That being said, in the summertime, Vegas gets HOT – often over 100 degrees. While the dry heat isn’t as bad as the humidity-filled heat we experience on the east coast, it’s still extremely hot, so take that into consideration as you plan.

Layers are your friend in Vegas! Even when it’s hot outside, it’s oftentimes cool inside the hotels, restaurants, and casinos, so it never hurts to have a light jacket and sweater with you, even during the hotter months of the year.

Either way, there really is no bad time to visit Las Vegas. There is so much to enjoy both indoors and outdoors, so you can easily enjoy Vegas in both the hotter months (hello Vegas pool party!) and colder months (restaurants, shows, casinos – so many options!).

There is not one set dress code for Las Vegas, no. That being said, there are a few good rules to keep in mind as you pack for your trip to Vegas.

Some venues in Las Vegas, such as restaurants or hotels, have dress codes, so make sure you check the venues on your itinerary before you zip up your suitcase. You will want to make sure that you have some nice pieces of clothing, as you may encounter places that don’t allow you to wear shorts, sneakers, flip flops, or athletic wear and athleisure.

Remember, Vegas is all about staying stylish! My recommendation? Save the sweatpants for when you’re back home. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

You will definitely want to spend time walking the Las Vegas strip while you’re in the city. After all, where else in the world can you go from Paris to Venice to standing in front of the Sphinx in just a few blocks?

My top recommendation for the Vegas strip? Comfortable shoes! You’ll end up doing a lot more walking in Vegas than you might expect, and while I know it might be tempting to just pack all of your favorite heels for your trip to Las Vegas, make sure that you pack shoes that you can walk in, too. These lace up boots were a lifesaver for me – and they’re super stylish, too!

As far as the rest of your outfit, choose something that you know you’ll feel good taking a lot of photos in. There are so many Instagrammable spots on the Vegas strip, and I can guarantee you’ll want to snap a lot of pictures. Choose an outfit that you know you’ll love when you look back on your trip, while also keeping comfort in mind – again, you’re going to be spending a lot of time walking.

I opted for a great pair of ripped jeans and this stunning mauve glittery bodysuit. I just fell in love with the sleeves! I loved that this outfit incorporated both the practicality of a day on the go with the style and sparkly touches that a Vegas outfit needs.

I admit, I broke the comfortable shoes rule for this look – but can you blame me? I was obsessed with this look – thigh high boots, a mini skirt, a black crop top with lace sleeves, and the perfect wide brimmed hat. It’s so stylish and fashionable, and was perfect for photos on the strip.

Another must-pack item for your time in Vegas? Crop tops! Fun, flirty, and perfect for a weekend away, I always like to bring several different crop tops with me to Las Vegas. They’re a great choice because they work for any variation of Vegas weather that you may experience – they’ll keep you cool on brutally hot days, and can easily be layered over when the temperatures are colder.

You can wear both long sleeved and short sleeved crop top, which will give your wardrobe some variety for your trip. Crop tops can be paired with anything – shorts in the summertime, your favorite pair of ripped jeans, leather pants, or a cute skirt. They’re versatile, can be dressed up or dressed down depending on how you’re planning to spend your day, and are super trendy and stylish.

If you go to Vegas during the summer months, you can’t miss the iconic Vegas pool parties. They’re basically a nightclub experience at a swimming pool, and they’re one of the best parts of Las Vegas in the summertime. My trip to Vegas took place during the cooler months, so I didn’t get to add bathing suits to my own Vegas packing list, but I am definitely planning to go back in the future and experience it for myself!

Because Vegas pool parties are a more upscale experience than your average run of the mill pool party, plan to get glam. Remember, this is a nightclub setting! I recommend wearing your favorite bathing suit and coverup. You can keep the coverup on, or just wear your bathing suit all night. Getting in the pool is optional – it’s really more about the ambiance than anything, although if you want to get in, go for it! Either way, know that you’ll probably leave at least a little wet.

Of course, you can accessorize with stylish jewelry and makeup to take your glam look to the next level.

Here are a few of my top recommendations for outfits for a Las Vegas pool party:

Whether you’re going out to a fancy dinner, seeing one of the many incredible shows, or hitting up a fabulous nightclub, there’s nowhere like Las Vegas to pull out all of your most glam looks. From sparkles to sequins to feather and all your boldest colors, you can’t go wrong!

This stunning sequin dress was an obvious choice for my Las Vegas trip. Sequins always pop, and a sequin dress is the perfect choice for a night out in Vegas. Thanks to the Eras tour, there are so many sequin dresses on the market right now, so you’re sure to find one that you absolutely love.

Go elegant and classy with an all black look, or make the sparkles pop even more by wearing a bold and bright sequined dress. I prefer shorter dresses to longer dresses for Las Vegas as they are easier to move around in and fit the nightclub vibe of the city so well. Plus, then you can really show off your fabulous shoes! Go all out with great sparkly jewelry to finish off the look and get ready to have the time ofyour life.

Another great choice for your trip to Vegas? Jumpsuits! I always suggest packing a few great jumpsuits when people ask me for Vegas outfit ideas because they can be dressed up or down so easily, and they’re also simple to pack as they take up less space in your suitcase than bringing along multiple pieces for an outfit. This pink jumpsuit is one of my absolute favorites – I can’t get enough of the color! Plus, pants are so easy to move around in, so you’ll be comfortable no matter what you do.

You also have to have some fabulous dresses for your nights out with friends. You can go a little over the top in Vegas, after all! I love this tutu style dress with the netted top – it was the perfect choice for my 30th birthday.

There’s one piece of clothing that is universally a perfect choice – especially in Vegas. No matter what you plan on doing during your trip to Las Vegas, you can’t go wrong when you wear a little black dress.

I truly believe that I found the perfect little black dress when I stumbled onto this gorgeous dress from Revolve. A velvet and sequined piece, it’s classy and elegant in all of the best ways, perfect for the touch of glamour that Vegas outfits call for. I finished the look off with sparkly heels, and was obsessed with the finished results.
