Wide Leg for the Petite

Petite Pants

As a petite woman, I make particular choices about the clothes I wear. I don’t want to wear clothing that is too loose and I don’t want to wear clothing that is too long. Overall, I don’t want to wear clothing that makes me look smaller than I already am. I want to accentuate my frame and hide my short stature – which is why I typically choose to avoid wide leg pants.

In my experience, wide leg pants are great pieces for taller women. It shows off their legs without making them look as if they are a towering figure. For the petite woman, like myself, these style of pants typically end up dragging and take way from the leg – essentially making the wearer look shorter.

Recently, I discovered that wide legs pants are for petite women, and that there is no reason to fear the wide leg pant. It is all about finding the right fit and making the pants work for you.

The best thing to do is to make sure that your wide leg pant is either hemmed, if too long, or purchased in the “short” or petite size. I found a pair white wide leg pants from Marks & Spencers that make me look a whole lot taller and are extremely comfortable.

Finding these pants was like an end of the summer gift. I can wear these as the seasons transition, and then eventually tuck them away away when the color palette changes as the leaves do.
